600gsm canvas — the heaviest tarp we stock

There is a real gap between a poly tarp and a canvas one, and this sits firmly at the top end. At 600gsm silicone-coated canvas with a PVC layer and 0.5mm of thickness, this is roughly three times the weight of our heaviest poly tarp and many times that of the 200gsm tarps sold at the discount end of the market.

You feel the difference immediately. It drapes rather than flaps, it doesn't crackle and billow in wind, and it takes abrasion — dragging over a tray, rubbing against a corner, sitting under a load — without the tearing that finishes off lighter material.

When canvas is worth the extra

Choose canvas over poly when the tarp is going to stay put for a long time, take physical wear, or cover something valuable. Long-term machinery and equipment covers, truck and trailer loads, hay, workshop and shed use, and camp setups you'll return to season after season.

If you need something lightweight, disposable or short-term, a 180gsm poly tarp is the more sensible buy. Canvas earns its price over years, not weeks.

Construction

Heavy-duty 600gsm canvas, silicone-coated and lined with a thick PVC layer for complete waterproofing. UV-resistant and anti-fade, holding its colour and strength through extended sun exposure, and stable across extreme heat and cold. Reinforced edges and corners throughout, finished with heavy-duty steel eyelets rather than aluminium — matched to the weight of the fabric they're securing. Ropes are included for installation.

Caring for canvas

Canvas rewards a little maintenance. Let it dry before folding it away — canvas stored damp will grow mould, and unlike poly it's worth saving when it does.
