Heavy duty where it counts — 180gsm silver/black poly tarp

This is the tarp for the jobs that chew through lighter ones. At 180gsm it carries noticeably more substance than the 100–150gsm tarps sold as "heavy duty" in most hardware aisles, and the difference shows up exactly where tarps normally fail: at the eyelets, along the edges, and after a season of sun.

Why silver on one side and black on the other

The two faces do different jobs, and which way up you run it matters.

Silver side up reflects heat and sunlight away. This is what you want covering machinery, a woodpile, a boat, stacked gear or anything you'd rather keep cool underneath — and it's the orientation that gives the fabric the longest life, because it throws UV back rather than absorbing it.

Black side up absorbs heat instead. Useful when you're trying to warm something, dry something out, or suppress growth underneath.

Construction

High-density polyethylene at 180gsm, double-coated on both faces for waterproofing. UV-stabilised so it resists the fade-and-crack cycle that ends most tarps prematurely in Australian conditions, and rated for both high heat and deep cold. Mildew-resistant, so storing it damp won't ruin it.

Edges and corners are reinforced, with aluminium eyelets at 0.9m intervals for tie-downs close enough together to hold real tension.

Typical uses

Machinery and equipment covers, trailer and ute loads, hay and firewood stacks, boats and trailers, temporary roof protection, camping ground sheets and shelters, shade and windbreaks at camp, and covering building materials on site.

Choosing your size

Measure what you're covering and allow 300–500mm of overhang on each side for tie-downs. If you're covering a load that needs to shed water, plan for a high point in the middle so rain runs off rather than pooling — standing water is what tears tarps.
