Say Goodbye to Mould with Canvas Magic® Mould Remover
No Scrubbing, Just Results!
We have all been there!
When you're in a rush packing up a tent, camper trailer, or caravan, a common problem is packing away canvas products before they are fully dry, or storing them in a damp location for an extended period.
This often results in mould growth on the canvas, which is difficult to remove, can leave stains, and may even pose a health risk if left untreated.
Fortunately, there is a solution!
Introducing 'Canvas Magic Mould Remover', a concentrated mould-removing formula that requires no scrubbing.
Special NB: While this product is specifically aimed at canvas products, Canvas Magic Mould Remover is also safe to use on caravan cover fabric. Customers are recommended to follow all usage instructions and test on a small area before full application.
Product Description:
1 x 4L container of 'Canvas Magic Mould Remover' which makes up to 10L of solution.
FREE AUSTRALIA-WIDE SHIPPING on all Canvas Magic products.
What it works on
Canvas and canvas-blend fabrics across the board: camper trailer canvas, tents, swags, rooftop tents, annexes, awnings, shade sails, marquees and gazebos. It's also safe on caravan cover fabric — test a hidden area first.
How much do you need?
The 4L container is a concentrate that makes up to 10 litres of working solution. As a guide, that covers one side of a camper trailer.
So if you're treating both sides, or a larger setup, factor that in before you order. If you're not sure, tell us what you're treating and we'll work it out with you rather than have you order short.
How to apply it
Work in the shade, in a well-ventilated spot, on a day with enough dry weather ahead to finish the job.
Spray it liberally onto the dry mouldy canvas from close range — a pump-up garden sprayer is by far the easiest way to get even coverage. Leave it for 15–20 minutes and watch the mould disappear. Repeat if any remains.
Once the mould has gone but before the product dries, rinse thoroughly with water to wash out any residual chemical, then let the canvas dry completely.
Always do a small colourfast patch test in a hidden area first — this is a chemical product. Follow the safety directions on the label and in the safety data sheet, and wear eye protection and gloves.
What not to do
Worth knowing, because the wrong approach does permanent damage:
- Don't scrub. Abrading canvas breaks down the fibres and the proofing, and on older canvas it's a fast way to turn a stain into a hole. It isn't necessary — the product does the work.
- Don't pressure wash. It strips the waterproof coating and can drive water straight through the weave, forcing spores deeper into the fabric rather than lifting them out.
- Don't use household surface sprays. They aren't formulated for fabric, and they generally leave residue that attracts more dirt.
- Don't let it dry on the canvas. Longer isn't better — 15–20 minutes is all it needs, then rinse before it dries.
Canvas cleaner or mould remover — which do you need?
They're different jobs. A general canvas cleaner lifts dirt, dust, bird mess and grime from the surface. A mould remover targets mould growth — mold, if you've arrived here from an American product page — that has taken hold in the weave, which is why surface cleaning alone never quite gets rid of the staining.
If your canvas is simply dirty, wash it down with water and a soft brush. If there's black or grey spotting that won't shift, that's mould, and it needs this.
Afterwards: re-waterproof
This matters, and it's the step people skip. Removing mould also removes water repellency — the treatment that lifts staining out of the weave takes the proofing with it. Canvas that shed rain fine before cleaning can leak afterwards.
Once the canvas is completely dry, re-proof it with Canvas Magic Waterproofer. If you know you'll need both, the bundle saves you $10.
