Most tarps solve the rain problem by blocking everything — including daylight. A clear poly tarp doesn't. That single difference makes it the right choice for a set of jobs where a blue or silver tarp simply won't do.

Use it to close in the open side of a pergola or annexe without turning the space into a dark box. Cover seedlings, a garden bed or a small greenhouse frame and keep the light reaching the plants. Screen a market stall or an outdoor gathering from wind and drizzle while people can still see out. Seal an opening during building work without blacking out the room behind it.

Built to stay out there

Made from 135gsm high-density polyethylene with a double coating on both faces, this tarp is fully waterproof and UV-stabilised, so it resists the fading and brittleness that kills cheap tarps after one Australian summer. It handles high heat and cold without cracking, and it won't grow mildew when stored damp.

Every edge and corner is reinforced, with aluminium eyelets set at 0.9m intervals — close enough spacing that you can tension it properly rather than leaving it to flap and tear at the fixing points.

Choosing your size

Measure the area you need to cover, then add enough on each side to tie down properly — roughly 300–500mm of overhang per side is a sensible allowance. A tarp pulled tight across its fixing points lasts far longer than one left loose to move in the wind.

A note on covering caravans

People often ask whether a tarp will protect a caravan. Honestly, it won't do the job well. A tarp isn't cut to shape, so it moves in the wind and chafes against corners, gutters and edges — and trapped moisture underneath can do more harm than the weather above. For the van itself, a fitted caravan cover is the right tool. A tarp is excellent as a ground sheet under the annexe, a windbreak, or a cover for gear and firewood at camp.
