Why caravan curtains go mouldy

Same reason the canvas does, and usually faster.

A closed-up van generates condensation — from breathing, cooking, wet towels, damp shoes — and it settles on the coldest surfaces, which are the windows. The curtains and blinds sit right against them. Add a few weeks in storage with the van shut up and you come back to black spotting along the hems and the folds.

Blinds and pleated screens are worse again, because the fabric is packed tight against itself when retracted and never gets airflow.

The problem with the usual fix

In a caravan you often can't just take the curtains down. They're tracked, clipped, or built into the window unit, and getting them out means dismantling trim. Washing them frequently shrinks them enough that they no longer sit right, and heavier drapes can lose their shape entirely.

Curtain Magic is designed around that. It works in place — apply it to the fabric where it hangs, let it work, and the mould lifts without removal, washing or scrubbing.

How to use it

Work in a ventilated space with the windows open. Follow the dilution ratio and safety directions on the label — wear eye protection and gloves. Apply to the affected fabric, let it work, and don't let it dry out on the material. Allow the fabric to dry fully afterwards.

For caravans, leave the van open to air afterwards — putting damp curtains back into a sealed van restarts the problem you just fixed.

Preventing it coming back

Ventilate when you can. Crack a roof vent in storage rather than sealing the van completely. Dry the windows down after condensation forms. And where the van lives outside, a fitted cover keeps the interior drier through winter, which is the cheapest prevention there is.
